A taste of school life: Sport Relief 2018

Templenewsam Halton had a fabulous Friday on March 23rd celebrating Sport Relief 2018.

Children were split into their houses in order to take part in six main sporting activities throughout the day. Points were allocated to the house that performed best in these. The day started with a whole school Wake up, Shake up on the playground (won by team Apollo). Further sports activities included an energetic and exhausting Zumba class (won by Endeavour), Curling lessons and competition, Martial Arts with Mr Singh (won by Endeavour), a Creative Classroom and a Step Challenge which set each house the task of collecting the most steps whilst travelling around the school grounds (won by team Voyager with 5675 steps). In addition to all of this, we set a cycling challenge to the whole school. This involved keeping an excercise bike moving all day. Staff and children took turns on the bike and were more than up for the challenge, not only did they keep the bike cycling all day but they achieved a whopping 86 miles distance whilst doing it!  To end the day we first streamed the Curling final via a live link up between two areas of school. This was incredibily exciting for the children and staff watching on the big screen in the hall and was eventually won by team Discovery by a very narrow margin over team Endeavour. After that, children and staff took part in a Templenewsam version of A Question of Sport which was also won by team Discovery.

All children in school were fantastic and really enjoyed the range of activities on the day. Two houses, Discovery and Endeavour, shared the title of overall house winners for Sport Relief 2018.

Of course with Sport Relief being about charity we would also like to say a huge thank you to all children who brought in a donation which helped the school to raise a brilliant £430. A special mention must also go to Sophia and Eleanor Hirst who donated £10 which they collected after completing a week of sporting activities which ended with them both running to school on the friday.

Welcome to Templenewsam Halton Primary School

Templenewsam Halton Primary is a happy school with caring relationships at the heart of everything we do.

We aim to grow children, in partnership with parents, who are resilient, able to love and care for others, able to make the right choices and have a love of learning.

We do this by creating a climate of challenge for our children and staff in which it is safe to make mistakes secure in the knowledge that we will all support each other to aim high.
